A lot of people have grown to hate the drop-in chat because they’ve no doubt been abused by serial small talkers and time wasters, but when used correctly they can replace meetings, email threads, arguments, miscommunications, planning sessions, and a boatload of other ceremonial time suckers people do to make sure everyone has input and doesn’t get their toes stepped on.
